Top US House Financial Services Committee calls for "significant agreement" on stablecoin legislation this year
Maxine Waters, the top Democrat on the House financial services committee, said she hoped to reach a "significant agreement" on stablecoin legislation by the end of the year.
Waters stressed that the new bill should prioritize consumer protection and strong federal regulation, while allowing multiple avenues for the creation of stablecoins, with the Federal Reserve playing a leading role.
