Vitalik: 12 months ago there was talk of L1 "withdrawing rent" from L2, now it's the opposite

Vitalik Buterin posted on the X platform that he does think there are differences in the status quo. Twelve months ago, L1 was talking about "extracting rents" from L2. Now the opposite is true. We don't want a mixed economy where tax rates jump from 5% to 95%. If we could design economics so that both L1 and L2 fee accumulations are reliably far from zero (i.e. the ratio has a low variance), many people would be more satisfied. We need to maintain an ecosystem that makes the Ethereum community feel like they are on the same team, including the technical interoperability part, the values/culture part, and the economic part. EIP-7762, Base Rolls, and other forms of fee sharing are all valuable starting points.
