The former head of the US SEC's cryptoassets and cyber division: will rest and travel with his family before the fall
On June 17, David Hirsch, former head of the U.S. SEC's Crypto Assets and Networks Division, posted on LinkedIn that last Friday was my last day after nearly 9 years at the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). During this time, I had the opportunity to participate in more complex and challenging investigations and issues than I could have imagined when I joined the agency as a staff member in the Fort Worth area office. I am particularly proud to lead the Crypto Assets and Networks Division team through historic work.
I am deeply grateful to the many mentors, leaders, colleagues, and friends who cannot be listed here. This includes wonderful partners across state, federal, and international regulatory agencies, as well as law enforcement. As I often say, securities enforcement is a team sport, and it really has been demonstrated during my tenure. Every success story I have been involved in has been the result of collaboration and joint efforts. Thank you all.
Although leaving this institution that has given me so much is difficult, I am very excited about the challenges that lie ahead. I look forward to sharing more information soon, but for now, I am excited to rest and travel with my family before my son goes to college in the fall.
