Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that one of the founders of the cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme Forcount (later known as Weltsys), JUAN TACURI, has been sentenced to up to 240 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres for a scheme that has spread around the world and targeted thousands of victimized investors ("victims"), mainly Spanish-speaking people in the United States. JUAN TACURI made millions of dollars from participating in the scam and spent the money on items such as real estate and luxury goods in Florida.
