Ripple CTO refutes Character.AI lawsuit, saying it lacks legal basis
Ripple's chief technology officer, David Schwartz, took to social media to dismiss the lawsuit against Character.AI, saying it lacked merit and emphasising that the company's actions were protected by the First Amendment. The lawsuit alleges that Character.AI chatbot platform was poorly designed and created security risks, and calls its products "extremely dangerous". In response, Character.AI has taken steps to update security protocols to add age restrictions and user monitoring features. Schwartz argued that legal challenges to expressive content are contrary to constitutional rights, and compared the case to past moral scares of new media.
