Ohio Senate candidate Bernie Moreno sells bitcoin to avoid conflicts of interest
Bernie Moreno, a Republican candidate for the US Senate, has claimed to have sold his bitcoin assets in response to a potential conflict of interest with the cryptocurrency industry. He received more than $40 million in support from the "Defend American Jobs" political action committee in his campaign. Moreno said he was proud of the support from the crypto industry, stressing that it was because it aligned with his views, not because he agreed with them. Meanwhile, incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown, as chairperson of the banking committee, is skeptical of digital assets. The race could become one of the most expensive races in the 2024 US election.
