US media: A Pennsylvania county is missing thousands of votes
A state judge in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania found that 13,000 to 17,000 Erie County voters may not have received their ballots in time for next Tuesday's general election after a mail-in ballot vendor contracted with the Erie County Board of Elections failed to meet demand, U.S. media reported. Judge David Ridge ordered the Board of Elections to remain in office on Friday and Saturday so voters could request and fill out their ballots. In addition to the thousands of voters who may not have received their ballots, the judge found that about 1,200 out-of-state voters registered to vote in Erie County may not have received their mail-in ballots. He raised the possibility that more than 20,000 ballots may not have reached voters, considering what the judge called an "unknown number" of people may not have been counted.
