Cumbria County, Pennsylvania, extends voting hours to 10 p.m. due to a software glitch
U.S. election officials in Cumbria County, Pennsylvania, who were interrupted by a software glitch that disrupted the scanning of ballots, applied to the court to extend the polling time to 10 p.m. local time on Tuesday, which has been granted by the court. Ballots cast after 8 p.m. will be considered provisional ballots, according to the court order. The Cumbria County Board of Elections said in a statement earlier Tuesday that the software glitch prevented voters from scanning their ballots, but that it should not affect voters' determination to cast their ballots, stressing that "all ballots will be counted". Residents were encouraged to keep voting. Voter Dave Luciu, who found the crowd sparse at the local polling station, said he decided to come back to vote later because of a machine failure to ensure his ballots were properly counted.
