Trump says Musk's efficiency team will issue a work report

President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday that the Government Effectiveness Panel, led by Musk, will release a report on its work to streamline the U.S. government. "They're going to come up with separate reports, and at the end there's going to be a big report," Trump said in a speech at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. It was the first time Trump has provided new details about the panel's report since announcing it earlier this week. Trump said Tuesday that the panel would "provide advice and guidance from outside of government" to streamline government, cut regulation, reduce spending and restructure federal agencies. Both Trump and Musk have said the panel would make significant budget cuts. However, the U.S. Constitution gives Congress power over the federal budget. Congress can accept or ignore the recommendations of outside panels, such as the proposed efficiency panel.
