Starknet will increase TPS by 4 times and reduce fees by 5 times in the next 3 months
StarkWare CEO Eli Ben Sasson told Cointelegraph during DevCon 2024 that Starknet's transaction speed is expected to increase by a factor of 4 in the next 3 months, while transaction fees will decrease by a factor of 5. This improvement is mainly due to better compilation and faster execution of its native smart contract language Cairo. Starknet plans to increase transaction speeds to over 1000 TPS, which rivals the performance of Solana. Currently, Starknet's average transaction fee is only $0.002, which is expected to be further reduced to become one of the cheapest Ethereum layer 2 networks. StarkWare is also exploring proposals to introduce OP_CAT improvements to support native settlement on Bitcoin, which is expected to happen within the next 12 months.
