Swan Bitcoin is suing its lawyers for including Tether as a client
Bitcoin financial services firm Swan Bitcoin has sued Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher for hiring a lawyer to represent stablecoin issuer and rival cryptocurrency firm Tether.
Swan sued Gibson on Nov. 22 in Superior Court of California, alleging legal malpractice, alleging that he "solicited and won Swan" to represent Swan against Tether, a "former partner turned adversary," before the law firm "accepted Tether as a client and let Swan go."
Swan alleges that a lawyer for Gibson called the firm's CEO, Cory Klippsten, to warn Swan that he needed to find another lawyer because the firm had hired attorney Barry Berke to represent Tether, which could be a conflict of interest.
