Report: Telegram's cryptocurrency holdings rise to $1.30 billion in the first half of 2024
The value of digital assets held by messaging platform Telegram has risen from $400 million at the end of 2023 to $1.30 billion in the first half of 2024. Telegram previously disclosed that it holds around $400 million in digital assets. However, new information indicates that the company's cryptocurrency holdings have exceeded $1 billion.
According to the report, the instant messaging platform generated $525 million in revenue from January to June. That's a 190 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. The report highlighted that the company earned $353 million in the first half of 2024 by selling cryptocurrencies. About $225 million came from a transaction with an undisclosed entity, according to the report. Telegram was reportedly compensated for allowing TON tokens to be an exclusive way for businesses to buy ads on the messaging app.
