The European Parliament has approved a new list of commissioners, including those who may oversee cryptocurrency regulations
The European Parliament on Wednesday approved a list of commissioners, including those responsible for overseeing the regulation of digital assets, with commissioners Stéphane Séjourné, Maria Luís Albuquerque, and Henna Virkkunen likely to include cryptocurrencies in their remit.
In September, the President of the European Parliament, Ursula Von der Leyen, proposed a list of commissioners. Although cryptocurrencies are not a central topic in these positions, the committee will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of digital asset rules. In addition, the European Union's crypto asset market legislation, MiCA, will come into full force at the end of December, so more work may need to be done to ensure implementation.
