According to the Washington Post, US President-elect Donald Trump is considering nominating Florida Governor DeSantis to replace the defense secretary. According to people familiar with the matter, Trump and DeSantis personally discussed the matter on December 3. Spokesmen for both did not immediately respond to this. Previously, Trump said on November 12 that he would nominate Pete Hegseth as the US defense secretary. Later, Pete Hegseth was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2017. Although he was not taken to court, multiple US media reported that Hegseth paid the woman a sum of money as part of the settlement.
