The People's Court of Wenchang City, China concluded a case of using cryptocurrency to trade personal information, and the main criminal was sentenced to illegal trafficking 82 million pieces of information

On December 16th, the People's Court of Wenchang City, Hainan Province, China recently concluded a case of using cryptocurrency to trade personal information. The court investigation showed that the defendant Han purchased more than 82.24 million personal information in QQ for 500 yuan in 2021, including 7.27 million handheld ID photos, 30.69 million car owner information and 1.07 million bank user information. In March 2023, Han sold to the outside world through platforms such as QQ, WeChat, and Telegram, and cooperated with courier Wu to obtain express transaction information. He traded at USDT pricing of 1.5 yuan per item and made a profit of 770 yuan through the European-Italian platform. The court sentenced Han to one year and eight months in prison and fined 3,000 yuan for infringing on citizens' personal information. Co-defendant Wu was sentenced to eight months in prison and suspended for one year and four months and fined 2,000 yuan.
