Department of Justice Seizes 32.68 Bitcoins from Crypto Fraudster, Victims Who File Claims Will Receive Compensation
The Department of Justice, investigating cases related to business email fraud, seized about 32.68 bitcoins, worth about $900,000 at the time, in the fraudster's cryptocurrency wallet. The U.S. Attorney's Office subsequently filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit against the seized bitcoins, which have more than tripled in value since the seizure. All ten victims who filed claims are likely to receive compensation due to the rising price of bitcoin.
