Republicans have launched a Plan C to avoid a government shutdown
Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives are looking for ways to avoid a government shutdown after their second appropriations proposal was rejected Thursday night. It is now hours away from the Friday deadline. House Speaker Johnson said earlier Friday that Republicans have reached a Plan C to avoid a government shutdown and plan to vote soon. Senate Republicans have called the two proposals they witnessed in the House to fund the government through Christmas a "chaotic farce" and a "fiasco". "I think it's all back to square one," incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-N.Y.) said as he left the Capitol.
