BlackRock has doubled its investment in IBIT through its Global Allocation Fund.
On December 27th, BlackRock's filing with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) revealed that as of October 31st, the number of shares held by its global allocation fund in the Bitcoin spot ETF IBIT has reached 430,770, with a total value of more than $17 million. This figure is an increase of 117% compared to the 198,874 shares reported on July 31st, and an X user named MacroScope pointed out this significant increase. In addition, the number of IBIT shares currently reported is more than 10 times higher than the 43,000 shares registered in Quarter 1.
The Global Allocation Fund is BlackRock's diversified investment product, covering short-term securities such as stocks, bonds, and money market securities in the US and foreign markets, and its portfolio is regularly adjusted. Although BlackRock doubled down on its bitcoin product, IBIT shares account for only 0.1% of the total size of the Global Allocation Fund's $16.50 billion.
