Sam Altman: 2025 could see the first AI agents join the workforce

On January 6th, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said in a new blog post that the company is convinced that it has a way to build AGI (general artificial intelligence). He predicted that 2025 could see the first AI agents "join the workforce" and substantially change corporate output. Altman reflected on ChatGPT's two-year journey, noting that the product has grown from its initial 100 million weekly active user to more than 300 million. He emphasized that OpenAI is shifting its focus to the development of superintelligence, which he believes will significantly accelerate scientific discovery and innovation, leading to greater social prosperity. Altman described the "flash firing" in November as a "major failure of governance" but said the experience had made him a more thoughtful leader. He particularly thanked Ron Conway and Brian Chesky for their help during the crisis, saying that without their support, OpenAI might have fallen apart.
