Trump asks the U.S. Supreme Court to block sentencing on felony charges
On January 8 local time, US President-elect Donald Trump petitioned the US Supreme Court to block the sentencing on January 10 of 34 felony charges against him in New York for falsifying business records. Trump's emergency application asked the court to block the prosecution from proceeding until his appeal of presidential immunity is resolved. Trump's lawyer said, "The Supreme Court should immediately suspend further proceedings in the New York trial court to prevent serious injustice and damage to the presidential system and the functioning of the federal government."
