Multiple non-profit organizations in the United States have criticized Trump for issuing meme coins

Danielle Brian, executive director of the nonpartisan Projecton Government Oversight project on Trump's proposed Meme coin, said that Meme coins are usually unrelated to any underlying business, making them highly speculative for investors and potentially lucrative for founders. "Any move by the Trump Organization to show that they are concerned about potential conflicts, especially those involving foreign governments, seems to completely undermine their efforts." Other groups raising concerns include the non-profit Campaign Law Center and Citizens for Responsibility Ethics in Washington, which unsuccessfully sued Mr. Trump during his first term for violating the constitution's ban on foreign gifts and compensation. "The obvious difference with cryptocurrency is how quickly you can get a windfall," said Kedric Payne, general counsel at the Campaign Law Center.
