European Union finance ministers to discuss tokenization, distributed ledger technology and central bank funding for wholesale settlements
Next Monday's meeting of the Eurogroup, an informal body of economic and financial ministers that meets to discuss issues related to the euro, will discuss tokenization, distributed ledger technology and central bank funding for wholesale settlements, as well as the state of retail digital euros.
Hyun Song Shin, economic advisor and head of the Monetary and Economic Department at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), will participate in the discussion. He is involved in the Agorá project, a BIS project to combine tokenization and wholesale CBDCs to accelerate cross-border transfers using correspondent banks. The project involves 41 institutions and seven central banks, including the Bank of France, which represents the European Union.
