A number of SEC-related internal confidential documents were disclosed by reporters
Former investigative journalist Jason Leopold has released a series of internal documents obtained from the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) within the framework of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) over the past six months, including:
Transcripts of SEC Chairperson Gary Gensler's email correspondence.
- Multiple confidential letters sent by Tesla's legal team regarding the SEC's ongoing enforcement action against Elon Musk.
The investigation report on the hacking of the SEC's official X account.
Documents related to investigations into deepfake photos appearing on the X platform and their impact on the market.
- Multiple Inspector General reports.
Mr. Leopold said the documents, which were obtained after a lengthy process involving regular follow-up on the status of applications, consultations with agencies and narrowing the scope of applications, were still redacted in part and would provide the public with important information about the inner workings of the SEC.
