Point72 Ventures Lays Off Some Digital Asset Team Members
Venture capital arm Point72 Ventures is shifting its focus to artificial intelligence and defence technology start-ups after laying off five investors focused on fintech and cryptocurrency, according to people familiar with the matter. The move is part of a strategic shift aimed at optimising the allocation of resources and seizing the biggest opportunities in the market.
The departures include three fintech experts and two members of Point72 Ventures' digital asset team. Partners Tripp Shriner and Sugam Sarin are also likely to leave, sources said, but sources said they could continue to support existing portfolio companies.
