US media: Musk may face consequences for interfering in German politics

According to the Wall Street Journal, Friedrich Merz, who is leading the polls ahead of Germany's February 23 election, warned in an interview that Mr. Musk would face the consequences of supporting the far-right Alternative for Germany party through his social media platform X. "What happened in this campaign cannot go unquestioned," Merz said. Mr. Musk has repeatedly called on Germans to vote for the AfD in the upcoming election, saying it would save the country. He spoke freely on the platform with its candidate, Alice Weidel, and then made a live video speech at a campaign rally. "It can be a political response. It can be a legal response," said Mr. Merz, on the consequences for Mr. Musk. "I want to analyze this issue dispassionately after this campaign."
