Ethereum client side Geth issues emergency update, reminding validators to upgrade to prevent loss in capital
According to The Block, the official execution client side Geth (go-ethereum) development team issued an emergency announcement on February 18, requiring validators using version 1.15.1 to upgrade to version 1.15.2 immediately. This update is designed to prevent network stability issues and disruptions to validator operations.
The development team pointed out that the v1.15.1 version has a regression issue that could cause block creation on the Ethereum mainnet to fail, causing validators to miss out on block creation opportunities and lose block rewards and transaction fees.
It is reported that Geth is the most widely used execution layer client side of Ethereum, with more than 40% of validators using the software. This update follows a previous patch that fixed a vulnerability that could expose nodes to Distributed Denial-of-Service.
