Trump will strengthen his control over independent federal agencies, including the regulatory functions of the SEC and the Federal Reserve
According to the Financial Times, US President Donald Trump will strengthen his control over independent federal agencies, in the latest move by Trump to tighten his control over government entities. The White House said in a statement that late on Tuesday, President Trump signed an executive order "binding independent agencies", ordering agencies to submit draft regulations for review. Trump will also establish "performance standards" for agencies, which must "consult" with the White House on "priorities and strategic plans." Agencies targeted by the executive order include the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), US FTC (FTC), and US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The White House said the Fed's monetary policy functions were not limited by the executive order, but its regulatory functions were limited.
