The Trump administration will instruct agency heads to prepare "mass layoffs" restructuring by March 13

According to Fox coverage, the Trump administration will direct the heads of agencies across the federal government to prepare to initiate "mass layoffs" and develop restructuring plans by mid-March. The memo will be sent to agency heads on Wednesday by Russell Vought, director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and Charles Ezell, acting director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the memo shows. They are instructed to be ready to eliminate positions and submit restructuring plans by March 13. However, the memo states that government positions "necessary to perform law enforcement, border security, national security, immigration enforcement, or public safety duties," as well as officials nominated and appointed to positions requiring presidential appointment or Senate confirmation, Executive Office of the President officials, and U.S. Postal Service staff are exempt from the order.
