US media: TSMC is investing another 100 billion dollars in the United States, and Trump is still considering tariffs on Taiwanese chips
TSMC is investing another $100 billion in the United States, but the US Wired magazine reported on the 4th that a person familiar with the matter said that the move did not stop the Trump administration from considering potential tariffs of up to 100% on TSMC and other Taiwanese chip factories. One plan, the person said, is that the tax will not only be on Taiwanese chips themselves, but also on electronic products such as iPhone that contain Taiwanese chips. According to Wired magazine, the White House and the US Department of Commerce did not immediately comment, and TSMC declined to comment. (Jin Ten)
