IMF spokesperson: It is evaluating the impact of Trump's tariff plan and believes that there will be no economic recession in the United States
International monetary fund spokeswoman Julie Kozack said on Thursday the fund was continuing to assess the impact of Trump's tariff plan, including his new 25 percent auto tariff, but its baseline forecast did not foresee a U.S. recession.
Asked about Trump's tariff plans at the IMF's regular news briefing, Kozack said that tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods, if continued, would have a "significant adverse impact" on the economic outlook of those countries, but she declined to provide specifics. She said the IMF is continuing to assess the impact of Trump's various tariff measures on other regions. (Jin Ten)
