Helium community's new proposal proposes creating an ENERGY subnet
On July 3rd, the Helium Foundation posted on social media that the Helium community is discussing a new proposal, HIP128, which proposes the creation of an ENERGY subnetwork to reward customers engagement in the energy market through solar power generation and battery storage.
The subnet will support the integration and rewards of distributed energy resources (DERs), allowing home users to contribute to grid stability and be rewarded. Key advantages include dual mining (existing Helium hotspots can earn both IoT and ENERGY rewards), increased network activity and data credit consumption, access to renewable energy, and promotion of green energy practices.
