German lawmakers are urging the German government to stop selling bitcoin
German MP Joana Cotar has strongly criticized the government's decision to sell $195 million worth of bitcoins, arguing that the move exacerbates market volatility and could have a long-term negative impact on the stability of the cryptocurrency market. The bitcoins were derived from investigations into illegal website Movie2k.to.
Cotar tweeted that the German government should reconsider the strategy and compare it with the US as a strategic reserve currency. She invited officials to a "National Bitcoin Strategy" lecture on October 17, led by bitcoin strategist Samson Mow, to discuss how bitcoin can be used to strengthen the national economy.
