Arkham: Government wallets currently hold $17.80 billion in bitcoin
On July 5, Arkham data showed that multiple governments hold large amounts of bitcoin, totaling about $17.80 billion at current market prices. The US government holds the largest share of bitcoin, with its holdings estimated to be worth $12 billion, the UK government holds about $3.30 billion worth of bitcoin, Germany's bitcoin is worth about $2.20 billion, and El Salvador has a bitcoin treasury of $314 million. The country became the first to adopt bitcoin as legal tender in 2021.
