Woori Bank employee arrested for embezzlement, spending about 15 billion won to buy virtual assets
On July 8, an employee of Woori Bank was arrested and charged for embezzling 18 billion won (about $13 million), which cost about 15 billion won (about $10.84 million) to buy virtual assets.
From July last year to May last year, the employee forged loan documents in the names of 17 customers including individuals and enterprises 35 times, applied for false loans, and then transferred the loan amount to the real-world friends account, totaling about 17.77 billion won.
Prosecutors confiscated 180 million won at the employee's residence, and froze virtual asset exchange deposits, bank deposits, and lease deposits totaling about 4.50 billion won through confiscation and collection.
