On July 16, it was reported that JD Vance, the US Republican vice presidential candidate, served as the head of Mithril Capital Management LLC, a venture capital firm owned by Peter Thiel, the "godfather of venture capital" in Silicon Valley, from 2016 to 2017.
In 2019, Vance co-founded Narya Capital, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, with investors including Peter Thiel, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and Mark Andreessen, founder of Netscape Communications.
In 2020, Vance raised $93 million for Narya Capital. Together with Thiel and former Trump adviser Darren Blanton, Vance invested in Rumble, a Canadian online video platform popular among the political right.
