European Union to pay Ukraine 1.40 billion euros from frozen Russian assets

The European Union will provide Ukraine with 1.40 billion euros (1.52 billion dollars) in military aid, funded by interest on frozen Russian assets. The decision was announced by European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee, with the first transfer of funds due in early August.
