OpenAI releases artificial intelligence model with reasoning capabilities
In an effort to stay ahead of the competition in the market, OpenAI has unveiled a new artificial intelligence model internally codenamed "Strawberry" that can perform some human-like reasoning tasks. The new model, called o1, will "spend more time thinking" before replying to user inquiries, the company said in a blog post on Thursday. With the model, OpenAI's tools should be able to solve multi-step problems, including complex math and programming problems. A preview version of the model is available to ChatGPT Plus and Team users on Thursday. "As an early model, it doesn't yet have many of the features that make ChatGPT useful, such as browsing a web for information and uploading files and images," the company said. " But for complex reasoning tasks, this is a major advance and represents a new level of artificial intelligence capabilities. In light of this, we reset the counter to 1 and named the series OpenAI o1. "
