Netherlands International: New Zealand Federal Reserve may wait for the Federal Reserve to take the lead
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand will announce its interest rate decision on Wednesday. ING expects the outcome of the meeting to be a very close decision, with markets divided over whether the bank will cut rates by 25 basis points or leave them unchanged.
However, ING is inclined to think that with inflation concerns lingering, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand may still be inclined to wait for the Federal Reserve to take the lead and could cut rates by 50 basis points in October. Alternatively, a "hawkish" rate cut could be possible.
