U.S. election forecasting agency: Democrats will win the House of Representatives by one vote
Sabato's Crystal Ball, a prominent US election forecaster, predicted on Monday that this year's election would result in a divided House of Representatives by one vote.
"Like the presidential race, the race for the House is essentially a tug-of-war throughout the cycle," Larry Sabato, the agency's editor in chief, executive editor and deputy editor, wrote in an article published Monday.
"We have always believed that the winner of the president and the House of Representatives is likely to be the same person, but the difference is minimal. We think 218 seats are safe, likely, or leaning Democratic, and 217 seats are safe, likely, or leaning Republican." The House is currently led by Republicans, but by a very narrow margin, who hope to keep the seat. According to Hill/Decision Desk headquarters projections, Republicans have a 52% chance of winning the House.
