U.S. Treasury bonds rose and fell on the last day of 2024, and the yield curve steepened
The last day of trading in 2024 was shortened due to the holiday, and U.S. Treasury futures were actively traded, but had little impact on prices. After the month-end index rebalanced at 1 p.m. New York time, the yield curve steepened. The 10-year Treasury yield rose nearly 5 basis points to 4.58% during the day, and was close to 4.50% at the beginning of the day, the lowest level in more than a week.
