European Central Bank Governing Council Stournaras: ECB interest rates are expected to fall to 2% this autumn
"The ECB's base rate should fall to around 2 percent around the autumn of 2025," Stournaras, the ECB's governing council and central bank governor, told Greece's Skai radio station, according to a transcript released Thursday by the Greek central bank. He said the forecast would still be subject to "unforeseen circumstances," citing risk factors in Europe and the United States. Economists and investors believe the region's economy is struggling as the ECB cuts interest rates at every meeting until mid-2025 as inflation stabilizes at its 2 percent target.
