Sichuan Neijiang City Public Security Bureau held a press briefing to announce that the Neijiang police recently cracked a case of illegally obtaining computer system data supervised by the Ministry of Public Security and arrested 5 people. It is reported that the gang is a high-end "hacker" engaged in network technology. One of them is still a staff member of a large cyber security company. He overstepped his authority to obtain personal information of citizens by writing a hacking program. Finally, he sold personal information of citizens through virtual currency on overseas websites, and the price can reach up to 5 yuan each. After police investigation, the case involved 57 government and enterprise websites. The gang stole 208 million pieces of personal information such as flight trajectories, diplomas, and addresses. The illegal profit reached more than 6.4 million yuan. The case has been transferred for prosecution and the case is under trial.
