Eurozone finance ministers' meeting to discuss U.S. cryptocurrency policy
On March 10 local time, the finance ministers of the member states of the euro zone held a meeting. During the meeting, in addition to discussing the macroeconomic development of the euro zone and coordinating the budget policy of the euro zone, they also focused on how to seek responses to the cryptocurrency policy of the Trump administration in the United States. US President Trump recently said that the US federal government will support the development of cryptocurrencies represented by bitcoin and its digital asset market. Last year, Trump also declared in his election campaign that he would make the United States the world's bitcoin superpower and the global cryptocurrency capital. The European Union is concerned that the spread of cryptocurrencies could jeopardize the euro's authority as a medium of exchange, weakening its position in the market and making it play a more marginal role in a world where online payments are increasingly ubiquitous.
