OpenAI responds to employee concerns: No new AI technology will be released until necessary safeguards are in place

On June 5th, OpenAI and Google DeepMind employees jointly voiced their concerns about the huge risks of advanced AI and the urgent need for stronger supervision. OpenAI released a statement today, emphasizing its commitment to providing powerful and safe artificial intelligence systems. OpenAI said that given the importance of AI technology, we agree with the content of the open letter. How to pass serious discussions is essential to better advance the development of AI technology. We will continue to engage with governments, civil society and other communities around the world to work together to create a harmonious AI environment. These include an anonymous integrity hotline and a Safety and Security Committee involving board members and company safety leaders. OpenAI notes that the company will not release new AI technologies until the necessary safeguards are in place. The company reiterates its support for government regulation and participates in a voluntary commitment to artificial intelligence safety. In response to concerns about retaliation, the spokesperson confirmed that the company has rescinded all former employees' non-derogatory agreements and removed such clauses from standard exit documents.
