Biden orders the executive branch of government to shut down on January 9, 2025
On December 30 local time, US President Biden ordered all executive branches and agencies of the federal government to close on January 9, 2025 to pay tribute to Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, who passed away on the 29th. Biden said in the statement that for reasons of national security, national defense or other public needs, the heads of executive branches and agencies of the federal government can decide that some offices and facilities remain open. Previously, the White House has declared January 9, 2025 as a national day of mourning to honor Carter.
